Uploaded videos are represented in their containing gallery with a video preview thumbnail. By default, the first frame in the video is used as the video preview thumbnail.
The option to change the video preview thumbnail is also provided.
You can select one of nine frames from a video to use as the video preview thumbnail, or select an uploaded photo as a Video Thumbnail. The video preview thumbnail is used to represent the video in galleries and collections, and is used as the first frame (or "poster frame") shown before a video is played.
Use a frame from the video as the video thumbnail
- In your account, go to Photos.
- Select the gallery or collection that contains the video with the video thumbnail that you would like to change.
- In the Main Area, click on the video you would like to change.
- A menu arrow will appear. Click on the menu arrow. The Video Menu will appear.
- From the Video Menu choose Change Video Thumbnail. A Video Thumbnail window will appear.
- Click on the thumbnail that you like to use as the Video Thumbnail.
- Click Save to apply your changes. You will see a video icon with gears while the new thumbnail is being created.
Note: After changing a Video Thumbnail from the large view (Single Photo Mode), you will still see the video processing thumbnail until the new frame is available and the video is reloaded.
Changing the video thumbnail requires regenerating the video in its various sizes so depending the size and length of the video, it may take some time before the video is available for viewing the video thumbnail is changed.
Use a photo as the video thumbnail
- In your account, go to Photos.
- Select the gallery or collection that contains the video with the video thumbnail that you would like to change.
- In the Main Area, click on the video you would like to change.

- From the Video Menu choose Change Video Thumbnail. A Video Thumbnail window will appear.
- Select the Use a photo tab.
- Locate the gallery where the photo is located.
- Click on the image that you like to use as the video thumbnail.
- Click Save to apply your changes. You will see a video icon with gears while the new thumbnail is being created.
