Commerce Fees and Payment Processing Fees
In addition to the subscription fee, there is a Commerce Fee from Zenfolio in the amount of 7% charged on all types of orders (vendor, digital, self-fulfilled) for selling through your site.
When selling Partner Vendor Fulfilled products the 7% Commerce Fee is calculated based on the total amount that the client pays for all of the vendor fulfilled products in the order, minus sales tax and shipping costs. There is also a Payment Processing Fee* charged by the Payment Processor that is calculated on the order total, including tax and shipping.
When selling Digital Download products the 7% Commerce Fee is calculated based on the total amount that the client pays for all of the digital download products in the order, minus sales tax and any possible shipping costs from vendor products in the same order. There is also a Payment Processing Fee* charged by the Payment Processor that is calculated on the order total, including tax and shipping.
*The exact Payment Processing Fee differs based on form of payment and location of seller. There may also be a difference in the Payment Processing Fee if the client is deemed international. Click HERE for more information regarding the fees involved with selling.
For Self Fulfilled* products, the 7% Commerce Fee is based on the total amount paid by the client minus the sales tax. Do also keep in mind that depending on how you choose to collect payments from your clients for Self Fulfilled products, the payment collector/processor may have their own transaction fees.
*For Self Fulfilled products, the shipping cost is included in the Commerce Fee calculation.
Setting Prices
Using a formula you can quickly price all products offered for sale using a combination of a fixed and percentage markups. Or you can set the prices manually. This can be done when you are editing the price list for Products, Prices, and Currencies.
Zenfolio offers a built-in formula function to markup items by a percentage plus the base price. The selling price can combine a fixed mark-up and a percentage over the base price. The formula is used to quickly set the selling price for all items in your price list. You can also specify an option to round the prices to make them look more appealing. You can choose to round up to the nearest $1.00, $0.99, $0.95 or not to round up at all.
The base price is the cost of a product charged by fulfillment partner and cannot be changed. Specifying the fixed markup and/or the percentage markup sets the final selling price.
Selling Price = Base Price Fixed Markup % Over Base
The example below illustrates how the pricing with formula works.
Example:
If the formula is set to have Fixed Markup of $9 and 200% added to the base lab cost of the product (rounded up to the nearest $1), it would look like this in the formula:
When applied to an example product with a $.36 base lab cost, the Formula would set the Selling Price of the product to $11. Subtracting Zenfolio's 7% Commerce Fee, the profit that the photographer would make from the product would be $9.87, prior to the Payment Processor Fee being calculated.
Here is what that would look like in the price list.
Note: You can override the formula at any time by typing directly into the Profit or Selling Price fields.
Click here to go directly to the instructions for setting the prices manually instead of using a Formula.
