In addition to the use of the built in Visitor Counter and Visitor Sign in, another way to track visitors to your Zenfolio website pages is with Google Analytics. This is a free tool that allows you to collect aggregate information about visitors to your Zenfolio pages, such as the number of unique visitors over time, their location, length of visits, and much more.
Important:
- When using Google Analytics, you are dealing directly with a third-party service provider's services. Before using a third-party service, we advise you to review the terms of service and privacy policy of the service provider. You agree that we are not responsible for any loss or damage brought on by your use of such third-party services, including any harm caused by the transmission of personal data between you and such third-party.
- Ensure that your use of Google Analytics complies with applicable local data protection laws.
- In order for Google Analytics to track a visit to your website, that visitor must accept the Cookie Warning presented on your website. Those that do not accept the Cookies will not be able to be tracked by Google Analytics.
For those that have not worked with Google Analytics before, and do not already have a Universal Analytics Id (UA-123456789-1) connected to the Zenfolio account, click HERE to skip to instructions for setting up Google Analytics.
For anyone that has previously created a Universal Analytics Id for their Zenfolio account, you will need to update to Google's new GA4. Updating Existing Universal Analytics ID to GA4To begin updating your current Universal Analytics Id (UA-123456789-1) to the new GA4 Id, you will first need to log into your Google Analytics account HERE. After logging in, you may get prompted to migrate your Universal Analytics Id to GA4, you can use these prompts to complete this process, just click on the Begin Migration button and skip ahead to step 5 below.
If you do not receive prompts to migrate your Universal Analytics Id, you can use the following instructions to complete the update

Google Analytics will then begin tracking your website's visitors within 48 hours and provide you with visitor information over time through the new GA4 property in your Google Analytics account. |
Creating a New Google Analytics Account and Property
If you already have a Google Analytics account AND property, click here to skip ahead.
- Go to Google Analytics. Log into your Google account. If you do not already have a Google account, you will need to create one.
- Click on the Admin
icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
- Click +Create Account.
- Create a Name for the Account. Adjust the timezone and currency, as needed. Then scroll down to click Next.
- Create a Name for your website Property. Then scroll down to click Next.
- Fill out the information about your business, and then click Create. (You will need to agree to the Google Analytics terms of service).
- You should be automatically taken to the Data Streams screen.
- Create a Web data stream.
- Enter your full website URL/domain. If you change your website domain/URL in the future, you will need to remember to update this as well.
- Create a Stream Name.
- Click on Create Stream.
- You should now be presented with the Stream details. Copy the Measurement ID. (G-1234567890).
Skip ahead to adding the ID to your Zenfolio website.
Obtaining Tracking ID From Existing Property
If you've already created a Google Analytics property, you will not need to go through the process of creating another one for the same website. However, you will still need to make sure that you create a Data Stream for your website. *If you've already created the property AND the Data Stream for your website, the Measurement ID will be available on the main Home page of that Google Analytics property.
- Log into your Google Analytics account and select the property from the top of the main page.
- If you need to create a Data Stream for your website, with this property, click on the Admin
icon.
- Click on the Data Streams option.
- Select the Web option.
- Enter in your full website URL/domain, and create the Stream Name. If you change your website domain/URL in the future, you will need to remember to update this as well.
- Click on Create Stream.
- You should now be presented with the Stream details. Copy the Measurement ID. (G-1234567890).
Adding Tracking ID to Zenfolio Website

return to your Zenfolio account and hover over your username in the top right-hand corner.

Select Account from the dropdown menu that appears.

From the menu on the left-hand side, click on Website.

Choose the Visitor Tracking option.

Select the Google Analytics option.
- Choose to Enable visitor tracking with Google Analytics.

Paste your new GA4 Measurement ID into the space provided.

Click Save.
Google Analytics will then begin tracking your website's visitors within 48 hours and provide you with visitor information over time.
Viewing Reports of Website Visitors
To view the reports of your website visitors, you will need to return to your Google Analytics account.
- From your Google Analytics account, click on Reports.
- Use the Reports snapshot to view various numbers, graphs, and other metrics of your site visitors.
- You can also use the Realtime overview to view information of visitors to your website in the last 30 minutes.
