Zenfolio will be ending support of the embedded slideshow feature in line with Adobe’s end of life (EOL) plan and removal from modern browsers. The ability to create an embedded slideshow with Galleries in your Zenfolio account will be removed by January 12, 2021.
Why is This Happening?
In July 2017, Adobe announced an end of life (EOL) plan for Adobe Flash. As of December 31, 2020, Adobe will classify Flash as EOL and will no longer be providing security updates and. Since that time, many major browsers have prevented Flash from running on pages, by default, or even being installed.
Flash will be removed entirely from all modern browsers by the end of 2020, as a final measure to the other updates and blocks for Flash content that have already been implemented.
On January 12, 2021, Adobe will block all content from running in Flash player, effectively ending all functionality.
What Will Happen to Previously Created Embeddable Slideshows?
Any embedded slideshows built using the feature will cease to function as Adobe and various browsers will no longer be allowing Flash content to display.
Instead, we recommend using the gallery slideshow functionality to share with viewers. More info on this feature can be found HERE.
Please keep in mind your website does not rely on Adobe Flash and will continue to function exactly as it has, since our platform is built on modern web standards.
